Fringe Or Botox?

As we get older, it is normal that our appearance will change.

The first thing most of us notice are fine lines around the eyes and in the forehead. These fine lines can often turn into deeper wrinkles over time.

It can feel very unsettling to start to notice these lines and often we look for a solution to this problem. Solutions can come in many forms:

  • Drinking More Water

  • Night cream

  • Eye creams

  • Better sleep

  • A fringe

and sometimes we even reach for a more invasive solution in the form of cosmetic procedures like Botox or Fillers.

Fringe Or Botox?

Having a fringe is far less invasive than having Botox.

A fringe can easily give a more youthful appearance and help to disguise those pesky fine lines. The best part, there are countless ‘fringe styles’ to choose from!

Unsure which style would work for you?

Take a look at our guide to choosing the perfect fringe style

A bottleneck fringe is much softer than a traditional straight cut fringe that we typically think of. Think of the shape of a bottle being slimmer at the top and widening at the bottom of the bottle neck.
Ask your stylist for a fringe that is soft, choppy and importantly shorter in the middle but widens off to around the cheekbones on the outer edges. When styling this fringe try and emphasise the width in the sides but adding a slight curl out, a nod towards Farrah Faucet but much softer.

This fringe style is suitable for a variety of hair textures, including curly hair.

This versatile shape can compliment any hair length. From short pixie style crops to long and one length, A side sweep fringe frames the face and is best for styles worn on a side parting.

This fringe style can also suit most hair textures too. The side sweep is a great way to add dimension to your curly hair style or even add some shape to fine and wispy hair.

The side sweep suits most face shapes however, if you have a round face shape this is the best option for you. It will soften the shape of your face and help to give the illusion of a more oval face shape, and most importantly, help to hide the fine lines!

This type of fringe is worn straight down and cut vertically across giving a heavy square finish. This style of fringe can look striking and sultry, drawing attention to the eyes.

Not for the faint hearted though, regular fringe trims are imperative to keep this style looking tip top! We recommend around every 3-4 weeks to keep it sharp and out of your eyes.

The heavy fringe is best for long and oval face shapes and suits hair that is straighter. Avoid this style if you have a cows lick hairline.

The short and textured fringe really can go with any length or any style, however, In our opinion this style of fringe is best suited to a more shaggy haircut.

Think lots of texture and varying lengths within the fringe area, This fringe never looks or feels heavy.

Less structured, this fringe style is a more modern and fun way to wear a fringe.

Ask your stylist for a choppy fringe slightly above the brows but follows the curve of the brow round the face.

The short and textured fringe can work if you have a slight texture to you hair and can work with a cows lick hairline however you must be prepared for daily styling if you do have a cows lick.

Round or Square face shape? Opt for a choppy textured fringe to add softness to your face shape.

The micro fringe, like the full square fringe, is not for the faint hearted. It takes regular maintenance to keep up with this fringe shape.

The micro fringe is always above the brows, usually no longer than an inch or two down your forehead. This fringe style can be cut blunt or even slightly more choppy.

It is best suited for a long or oval face shape but be prepared for daily hair styling to keep this style on point.

This fringe is the ultimate statement fringe. Think short, daring and sometimes even vintage looking.

Our Top tips for wearing a fringe

  • When washing your hair make sure your fringe is blow dried straight away. If you allow your fringe to sit damp for a while it can dry out of its shape and will need wetting down to get right again.

  • If its not a hair wash day and you have woken up with your fringe out of shape then try a heated brush like the B.R.U.S.H 30/40 mm for shorter fringes use the 30 mm and for longer fringes try the 40 mm

  • Plan your fringe trim appointments in advance. This will keep your style looking fresh but also avoids the panic setting in when your fringe is suddenly too long. For regular appointments why not opt for a maintenance or blow dry membership to help to keep you hair looking its best at all times.
